Juno sign calculator: what is my Juno sign?

Your Juno sign is the zodiac sign the asteroid Juno was in when you were born. Juno in astrology is the point of the chart that speaks about commitment: the kind of partner you look for and what loyalty means to you. Juno stays in a sign for anything from a few weeks to nearly a year, so friends born in the same year can have different Juno signs, and the house makes it personal.

Your birth date

Your birth time

The time is optional for the sign. Juno moves less than a degree a day; the time is what gives the house.

Your Juno sign

Juno is an asteroid between Mars and Jupiter, read in astrology as the asteroid of marriage and commitment.

The record

Enter your birth date and place, then press the button. You get Juno's sign and degree, whether it was retrograde, the dates it held that sign and, with a birth time, its house.

Accuracy: Juno's position comes from NASA JPL Horizons' published orbit solution for 3 Juno and agrees with Horizons to within one arcsecond in our checks, from 1900 to 2099, the full range this calculator covers.

Enter your birth date and birthplace, and the time if you know it. The calculator places Juno from NASA JPL's orbit for it, flags a retrograde Juno and gives the house when the time is known.

How the houses give a placement its setting

§ 01

What is Juno in astrology?

Juno is an asteroid roughly 250 kilometers across, found by the German astronomer Karl Harding in 1804, the third asteroid ever discovered after Ceres and Pallas. It circles the Sun in the main belt between Mars and Jupiter, once every 4.4 years, on an orbit more stretched than most planets' orbits.

It carries the name of the Roman queen of the gods, wife of Jupiter and guardian of marriage. Astrologers took the name seriously: since the 1970s, when the first ephemerides for Ceres, Pallas, Juno and Vesta were published, Juno has been read as the point of the chart that speaks about committed partnership.

§ 02

What does Juno mean in a birth chart?

Venus describes what attracts you. Juno, in the astrological tradition, describes what you look for once you commit: the kind of partner you picture beside you, what loyalty means to you and what you need in order to feel that a bond is fair and safe. Its sign gives the style, and its house shows the part of life where that commitment is most at home.

None of this forecasts a spouse or passes a verdict on a marriage. Astrology is a lens, and Juno is one of its quieter ones: a prompt for asking what you want from a long-term partner and what you are ready to give.

§ 03

How long does Juno stay in one sign?

Juno's orbit is clearly oval, so its speed changes a lot. One visit to a sign lasts anywhere from a few weeks to nearly a year, and because Juno also turns retrograde, it often leaves a sign, comes back and leaves again. That is why people born in the same year can have different Juno signs, unlike the slow outer planets. The calculator shows when Juno entered and left your sign, so you can see which pass you were born in.

Juno never moves more than about six tenths of a degree in a day, so a sign change on a birthday is rare, about one birthday in a hundred. If it happens on yours and you give no birth time, the calculator shows both signs and the minute of the change.

§ 04

Juno retrograde

Seen from Earth, Juno is retrograde about one day in five, in loops of roughly two and a half to nearly four months, so about one person in five is born with it. Astrologers read a retrograde Juno as a commitment style that is worked out inwardly first, often at its own pace. It is an ordinary placement. The retrograde entry in our glossary explains why a planet appears to move backward for part of the year.

§ 05

Reading your Juno sign and house together

With a birth time and place the calculator also gives Juno's house in the Placidus system by default (whole sign, Koch and equal houses are on the switch). Juno in the seventh house is read through the partner directly, in the fourth through home and family, in the tenth through a partnership that shows in public life. Aspects matter as well: Juno touching your Venus, Moon or Descendant brings its theme close to the center of the chart.

The birth chart calculator draws your whole wheel, and the descendant calculator shows the seventh house cusp, the other classic partnership point.

§ 06

Where the numbers come from

Juno's orbit is disturbed by the planets, so a simple orbit formula drifts. We use NASA JPL's Horizons ephemeris for 3 Juno, sampled every ten days from 1899 to 2100 and interpolated between samples. From that heliocentric position the engine adds Earth's position, light time, aberration and nutation, the same steps it applies to the planets.

Our check compares eight birth moments with Horizons' own apparent positions, and all of them agree to within one arcsecond. The table ends in 2100, which is why this calculator accepts birth years from 1900 to 2099. The calculation runs in your browser.

§ 07

What do I need to find my Juno sign, and where do I go next?

Your birth date and birthplace give the sign; the birth time adds the house. The place search sends only the place name you type. The Venus sign calculator shows what attracts you, and the compatibility calculator sets your chart beside a partner's.

If a result looks different elsewhere, why charts differ covers the usual reasons; for asteroids it is often a different ephemeris file or the sidereal zodiac.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Do I need my birth time to find my Juno sign?

No. Juno moves less than a degree a day, so the date settles the sign on all but a handful of days a year. The time gives the house, which is where much of the personal reading comes from.

What does Juno mean in astrology?

Juno is the asteroid of committed partnership. Its sign describes what you look for in a long-term partner and how you show loyalty; its house shows where in life that commitment is most at home.

Is Juno the same as Venus in a birth chart?

No. Venus describes attraction, pleasure and what you value. Juno describes commitment: what you need from a partner to feel a bond is fair and lasting. They often sit in different signs, and reading both gives a fuller picture.

What does Juno retrograde in the birth chart mean?

About one person in five is born with Juno retrograde. Astrology reads it as a commitment style that is worked out inwardly first and shown later. It is an ordinary placement and no verdict on a relationship.

Why does another website show a different Juno sign?

Many sites calculate asteroids from a rough orbit or in the sidereal zodiac, which moves every placement about 24 degrees back. This calculator uses the tropical zodiac and NASA JPL's orbit for Juno. If Juno changed sign on your birth date, it shows both signs with the minute of the change.
