Rising sign
Your rising sign, or Ascendant, is the zodiac sign that was climbing the eastern horizon at the minute you were born. It sets the frame of your whole chart: where your houses begin, and the first impression you make before you say a word. A new sign comes up about every two hours, so your birth time decides which one is yours.

The big three
Your big three are your Sun sign, your Moon sign and your rising sign: the three placements astrologers reach for first. Together they give a fuller sketch than the Sun alone: who you are, how you feel and how you come across. The lunar cycle and eclipses
The Moon is the fastest body in the sky, and its rhythm is the easiest to feel: it waxes and wanes over about twenty-nine and a half days, and twice a year, near the lunar nodes, that rhythm sharpens into eclipses.
