Moon phase today, and the month by the Moon.
The next full moon is on November 24, 2026 at 9:54 AM (New York time), with the Moon in Gemini. A cycle from one new moon to the next lasts about 29.5 days, and the Moon changes zodiac sign every two to two and a half days. The calendar below gives each day's phase, how much of the disc is lit and the Moon's sign, so you can plan around any date.

Reading today's Moon
§ 01
Reading today's Moon
The phase name tells you where the Moon is in its cycle; the illumination tells you how much of the disc catches sunlight. They move together but not evenly: the lit share climbs fastest around the quarters and barely changes near new and full moon, which is why a Moon two days from full already looks round.
Moon age counts the days since the last new moon. A lunation runs about 29.5 days, so an age near 7 means first quarter, near 15 the full moon and near 22 the last quarter. The sign line shows where the Moon sits in the zodiac right now and when it moves on, which happens every two to two and a half days.
§ 02
Moonrise and moonset
§ 02
Moonrise and moonset
The Moon rises about fifty minutes later each day, so on roughly one day a month it has no moonrise at all, and on another no moonset. The panel says so instead of borrowing tomorrow's time. A full moon rises around sunset; a new moon rises with the Sun and is lost in its glare.
Times are for the city you pick, on that city's calendar date, and mark the moment the Moon's upper edge touches a flat horizon, allowing for the way air bends light near the ground. Hills, buildings and your height above sea level shift what you see by a few minutes.

How the moon phases work
§ 03
How the moon phases work
The Moon has no light of its own; what you see is sunlight on the half turned toward the Sun. As the Moon orbits, the lit part you can see grows from new to full and shrinks back, a rhythm of about twenty-nine and a half days.
New moons are for beginnings, full moons for what comes to light. Between them the calendar marks the two quarters, when the Moon is exactly half lit, computed from the Moon's real position rather than a printed table.
§ 04
New moons and full moons
§ 04
New moons and full moons
A new moon is the dark start of the cycle, when the Moon sits between Earth and the Sun and its lit face is turned away from us. A full moon is the bright middle, when Earth lies between the Moon and the Sun and the whole disc is lit. This lunar calendar marks the exact moment of each.
Astrologers read the new moon as a time for beginnings and quiet intentions, and the full moon as a time when things come to light and reach a head. The next new moon and next full moon are always shown, so you can plan around them.
§ 05
The Moon's sign each day
§ 05
The Moon's sign each day
The Moon moves quickly, spending about two to two and a half days in each zodiac sign before crossing into the next. Astrologers say the sign it is passing through colors the mood of the day, and the calendar shows it for every date.
This is the sign the Moon is traveling through now, which is not the same as your own moon sign from birth. For the moon sign in your chart, the big three calculator works it out from your birth details.

§ 06
Void of course, explained
When the Moon has made its last major aspect before changing sign, it is called void of course. The stretch can last minutes or hours, and the calendar flags it when it is happening.
It is an old idea that plans set during a void tend to fizzle, so tradition treats it as a good time to rest, tidy or wait rather than launch something new. Read it as a gentle pause, not a rule.

Full moons and new moons through the year
§ 07
Full moons and new moons through the year
Because every phase is computed rather than listed, you can move through the months and read off each full moon and new moon for the whole year, each with its exact date and the sign it falls in. That makes the calendar as useful for planning around a bright full moon as for following the quieter rhythm of the month.
Astrologers often note which sign a full or new moon lands in, since that colors how they read it: a full moon in a fire sign is taken differently from one in a water sign. The calendar shows the sign for every phase, so you can follow both the light and the sign at once, and look ahead to the next new or full moon at a glance.

How to read this lunar calendar
§ 08
How to read this lunar calendar
Each day shows its moon phase as a small disc, filled to match how much of the Moon is lit, with the new and full moons marked and the Moon's sign noted. Move between months to plan ahead or look back over the year.
Everything is computed from real astronomy for your device's time zone, not copied from a fixed table, so a phase that falls near midnight is placed on the right day for you. Nothing is stored, the calendar needs no account, and each month redraws at once as you move backward or forward through the year.

How do I use this lunar calendar, and where do I go next?
§ 09
How do I use this lunar calendar, and where do I go next?
Nothing needs to be entered: the calendar opens on today in your time zone, with the phase, the lit share of the disc, the Moon's sign and the void-of-course periods. To find the Moon's sign at your birth instead, use the moon sign calculator.
The moon phases guide explains the cycle, the void-of-course Moon calendar lists the quiet windows, and the 2027 eclipse calculator shows the eclipses ahead. The moon and eclipses guide ties them together.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
What moon phase is it today?
The calendar shows today's phase at the top, computed from the Moon's real position for your time zone, along with how much of the disc is lit and the sign the Moon is passing through.
When is the next full moon?
The next full moon and next new moon are both marked with their exact dates. Because the moment is computed in your time zone, a full moon near midnight lands on the correct day for you.
Is the Moon's sign the same as my moon sign?
No. The calendar shows the sign the Moon is traveling through right now, which changes every couple of days. Your personal moon sign is fixed by your birth details, and the big three calculator finds it.
What does void of course mean?
It is the stretch after the Moon's last aspect in a sign and before it enters the next. Astrologers treat it as a quiet window, better for resting or finishing than for starting something new.
Why does another calendar show a different full moon date?
A full moon is a single instant, and the calendar date depends on the time zone it is printed in. A full moon late in the evening in Universal Time is already the next day further east. This calendar shows each phase in your own time zone, computed from the Moon's real position.

How it works on Android
The Android option downloads the calendar file. Open it and your phone asks which calendar app to use, such as Samsung Calendar or Google Calendar, then adds the dates there. This is a one-time import. For a calendar that keeps itself up to date, choose Google Calendar instead: a calendar added to your Google account also appears on your phone. On phones without a Google account, such as some Huawei models, the ICSx⁵ app can subscribe with the feed link below.
