Pluto in Aquarius: Dates, Meaning and Houses

Pluto first entered Aquarius on March 23, 2023, and entered for good on November 19, 2024, at 4:09 p.m. EST, after moving in and out of the sign twice. All dates below come from the NovaOracles ephemeris (how we calculate), in Eastern time. Pluto moves slowly and often changes direction near a boundary, so it crossed into Aquarius three times before it stayed.

Pluto's orbit is about 248 years, and it spends from 12 to 31 years in a sign because its path is so uneven. Aquarius is one of the shorter stays, near 20 years. Each year it spends about six months retrograde.

Pluto in Aquarius links the planet of depth, with its power, regeneration and what is buried and must come up, to the sign of the collective, networks, innovation and reform. Astrologers read it as a rebuilding of how groups organize themselves, how technology shapes society and who holds influence over shared systems. People often connect it to questions about data, automation, privacy and the rules of community life.

Personally, the transit asks about your relationship with groups. Where do you belong, what are you part of, and which affiliations still fit? It can also bring a wish to let a long-held identity go and build something more honest. Pluto's reputation is intense, but astrologers describe the themes as slow processes you can work with, with no fixed outcome. Aquarius is described in full in the Aquarius zodiac sign guide.

Pluto in Aquarius transforms the house it crosses, and because it moves slowly, a single house can feel its effect for many years. The text below gives the theme of each house, from the first to the twelfth in your chart. First house: a rebuilt identity and presence. Second: income, resources and the roots of self-worth. Third: how you think, speak and learn. Fourth: home, family and ancestry. Fifth: creativity, love and the stakes you put into them. Sixth: work, health and daily systems. Seventh: partnerships and the power dynamics inside them. Eighth, its natural house: shared money, intimacy and endings. Ninth: belief, education and worldview. Tenth: career, ambition and public standing. Eleventh, the natural home of Aquarius: friends, networks and causes, felt most strongly. Twelfth: the unconscious and what you have avoided. The house guide covers each of these.

Pluto opposes Leo, where Jupiter now stands; see Jupiter in Leo for that side of the axis, and the North Node in Aquarius page for the lunar point sharing this sign.
